July 10 RDA Board and City Council Meeting Recap

During Tuesday’s Redevelopment Agency Board meeting, the Board discussed a proposed residential tower development at 230 West 200 South, known as the Royal Wood Plaza site. Board Members expressed interest in having the developer meet with adjacent property owners to address their concerns about property height and other project details. The proposal was also discussed during the City Council meeting, and a public hearing is scheduled for July 31.

Also Tuesday, the Council held a public hearing about the proposed General Obligation Bond for street reconstruction, at which four people spoke. The Council will decide in the coming weeks whether the bond should be placed on the November ballot. An additional hearing will be held July 31 at 7 p.m.

The Council adopted a joint resolution with Mayor Jackie Biskupski calling on the federal government to cease long-term detention and further separation of detained immigrant families.

The Council also discussed and scheduled public hearings for:

  • proposed changes to the City’s Green Vehicle Parking Program;
  • a proposed municipal boundary adjustment with the City of South Salt Lake;
  • and zoning amendments.
