Salt Lake City

COUNCIL: August 6 Council Meeting Recap

At today’s meeting, the Council:

  • received an update on the Arts for All Program for the Eccles Theater. The program aims to make tickets to performances at the theater available on a discounted basis to income-qualified City and County residents who may not otherwise be able to afford tickets. The Arts for All program was a pilot program in 2018 with the County and the George S and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater. Council Members expressed their excitement and support of a new staff member who will focus on expanding outreach efforts, developing relationships with local organizations, and continue to diversify the program.

  • review and finalized recommended funding for Capital Improvements Program (CIP) Projects in the City. CIP projects involve the construction, purchase or renovation of buildings, parks, streets or other physical structures. The Council is tentatively scheduled to adopt the CIP funding on Tuesday, August 20th in a Special Limited Formal meeting at 6:30 p.m.
  • will hold a Truth in Taxation public hearing on Tuesday, August 20th at 7 p.m. This is the final step required by State law to formally complete the annual operating budget for Salt Lake City for Fiscal Year 2019-20.
