Salt Lake City is always looking for potential members to serve on the City’s twenty-five boards and commissions. Each board has a different culture, mission, and need and Salt Lake City encourages you to explore and learn a little more about each board prior to applying.
Online Application Form
Note: If you experience application issues, switch to a different internet browser.
Step 1: Apply
Individuals are asked to complete an online application, which will be submitted to the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office for review. Please note, Salt Lake City receives a large number of applications for certain boards and far fewer for others. Listing a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice can significantly speed up the appointment process.
Step 2: Interview and Appointment
Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski appoints individuals for consideration to most Boards and Commissions. Often the Mayor will request a short interview with potential candidates prior to selection.
Step 3: Advice and Consent
Once appointed by the Mayor, individuals must go before the Salt Lake City Council for an “advice and consent” interview. This interview is held during the City Council’s Work Session which typically occur on Tuesday afternoons. Following the Work Session interview, the City Council will vote to confirm (or not) the appointee during the City Council Formal Session which occur Tuesday evenings.
