- Three members, appointed by Mayor Mendenhall, serve on the Civil Service Commission. No member, during his time in office, can hold any other public office or be a candidate for any other public office.
- Members receive $25 compensation for each meetings attended concerning the Commission. Compensation for any member cannot exceed $100 per month.
Powers and Duties
The board is responsible for reviewing and commenting on the classified civil service list and assessments. The board also reviews the appointments and promotions for various positions in the police and fire departments to ensure equity in advancement. Finally, the Commission may create rules and guidelines as necessary for the functioning of the board.
