The FY 20-21 Budget process formally concludes with a virtual Truth in Taxation public hearing on Tuesday, August 11 at 7 p.m.
When the amount of tax money a government agency collects remains the same from year to year, that agency is not required to notify the public. But if taxes are raised in order to collect more money than the previous year – or when taxes are raised to make up for revenue fluctuations – government agencies must hold a “Truth in Taxation” public hearing where residents can weigh-in.

Note: The Council’s August 11 Formal Meeting will be held at 6 p.m. to accommodate the 7 p.m. State-required Truth in Taxation hearing. If the Council is not able to finish the Formal Meeting by 7 p.m., the meeting will resume after the Truth in Taxation hearing concludes.
