SALT LAKE CITY, UT –  Join Council Members Dan Dugan, Darin Mano, and Amy Fowler on Wednesday, June 1 from 1 to 2 p.m. for a live Q&A on the proposed City budget.

“The Council looks forward to engaging with the public as much as possible regarding the proposed City Budget before adopting it this year,” said Council Chair Dan Dugan.

On May 3, 2022, the Council received the proposed Salt Lake City budget from Mayor Mendenhall for the fiscal year, which begins July 1. The Council is asking; What questions do you have about the Council’s role in the budget process? About the proposed budget?  We want to hear from you!

“The budget process is complex and sometimes hard to follow,” said Council Vice Chair, Darin Mano, “We want to make sure residents have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to us in more ways than just our public meetings.”

“As a Council Member,” said Amy Fowler, “I am really excited to have this time to hear from everyone and answer any questions they may have, this is our chance to get the budget right and working for us all.”

As the City has grown at remarkable rates, the proposed budget includes property tax and fee increases to reflect increased costs of maintaining and serving a growing city – particularly maintaining City assets like parks that have seen greater use in recent years. The budget also includes additional funding for the development of affordable housing in the City.
