Camille Winnie is an ex-oficio member of Salt Lake City’s Business Advisory Board.
Camille has worked for the Downtown Alliance for over 12 years in a variety of roles including Director of Community Services, Director of Business and Community Relations and Program Manager. In 2016 she transitioned to a consulting role with the Alliance and oversees their efforts to find solutions to homelessness in downtown which has become a key focus and passion for Camille.
Camille is behind the Downtown Ambassador Program, a group employed by the Alliance to patrol the downtown area thoroughfares, assisting businesses, visitors, workers and the homeless. “The ambassadors field questions, provide directions and conduct social service outreach to the homeless community directing them to the appropriate resources. They help create a more welcoming city center, and generally make Salt Lake City “a safe, and friendly environment for everyone,” says Winnie.
Other programs that she helped developed and oversees on behalf of the Alliance is the CLEAN Team that employs homeless individuals to do trash pickup and maintenance tasks in the Rio Gande area and the GREEN Team program that employs homeless women in an urban farm setting while they participate in a job and life-skills training program.
Camille also served as the president of the Board of the Vest Pocket Business Coalition for over 2 years, oversaw the Downtown Merchant Association for several years and now also serves as the Director of the Salt Lake Civil Network, a consulting organization that helps produce projects that create community flourishing including Project Homeless Connect and TEDxSaltLakeCity.
