Liesl is a Project Coordinator for Salt Lake City’s Department of Economic Development and administrator for Foreign Trade Zone matters. Being a native of the Salt Lake area, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Utah, where she is subsequently completing her Master of Public Policy (December 2019). During her undergraduate studies, Liesl interned for the Utah Legislature and the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, in addition to gaining experience in economic development while interning for Team Cote d’Azur – a regional economic development agency located in Nice, France. As a graduate student, Liesl completed a graduate-level internship for the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C, where she assisted the Performance Excellence Team in drafting the Department’s strategic plan and received training on data-based decision making best practices and data visualization tools. She also served as the Vice President of Career Development for the Public Affairs and Global Enterprise Student Executive Board. Liesl was recently nominated for the Young Economic Development Professional Award with the International Economic Development Committee.
Outside of work and school, Liesl can be found at the local gym, the movies with a large popcorn with peanut m&m’s mixed in, or at the airport leaving on another adventure.
