MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:
Over the last two and a half years, affordable housing has been a top priority for my Administration.
- Passed the City’s first affordable housing plan in nearly 20 years
- Established ongoing funding source for housing trust fund
- Partnered with developers & lenders to prioritize projects (creating 800 units in 2 years with 1,000+ units in pipeline)
- Examined City ordinances and policies to find barriers to affordability
In the coming weeks and months, we will put forth additional changes to City code to incentivize the inclusion of more affordable housing in development projects.
We are often asked what affordable housing really means. In short, no one should pay more than 30% of their income on housing. SLC focuses on those individuals and families making about 60% or less of the area median income (AMI). An individual making 60% of AMI or $41,350 should pay no more than $900 per month in rent.
