Addressing homelessness in our community requires efforts from many groups and governmental organizations. The Community and Neighborhoods (CAN) Department and Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) Division partnered with a consultant team to create a plan that aims to identify needs within the two neighborhoods in Salt Lake City that are home to new homeless resource centers.
This planning effort included many neighboring residents and businesses, the Ballpark and Central City Community Councils, Salt Lake City departments, and Homeless Resource Center (HRC) operators. The plan offers information about the HRCs, the resources available to the community, and many strategies for the neighborhoods accepting the HRCs. The centers are designed to assist homeless individuals to housing and supportive services with the ultimate goal of making homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring. The document is available here.
