Civil Service Commission
State law permits the city to establish a Civil Service System (CSC) for employees in the police and fire departments (except the chiefs, deputy chiefs, and assistant chiefs of both departments, who have no CSC grievance rights). The CSC relies on a three-member volunteer commission appointed by the mayor. For more information about the role and purview of the CSC, please refer to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
