The Mayor’s Office Community Empowerment team and Community Liaisons aim to empower people in Salt Lake City. We conceive empowerment in three ways: teaching people the ways in which different levels and branches of government operate within their communities, creating opportunities for people to use their authentic voice in municipal decision-making, and connecting people with groups and various groups with each other. This empowerment creates bonds and bridges social capital so that people can be better together.
