Kaletta Lynch is a native of Decatur, GA.  She attended Dillard University in New Orleans, LA.  Shortly after Hurricane Katrina, Kaletta persevered to earn her B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland in College Park.

From 2016 to 2019, Kaletta served in the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff. Under Mayor Erin Mendenhall’s leadership, Kaletta returned to the Mayor’s Office to serve as the Special Projects Manager for the Racial Equity in Policing Commission, internships, the legislative bill tracking process, and ACE (Arts, Culture, and Events) fund.  In 2021, Mayor Mendenhall appointed Kaletta as the first Chief Equity Officer of the Office of Equity & Inclusion.  In addition to her public service in Salt Lake City, Kaletta has over 15 years of experience as a former federal background investigator, legislative executive assistant, contracts agent, and intergovernmental liaison.

Kaletta was the first Black woman to run for political office in West Valley City.  She also served as Community Organizer, in collaboration with Representative Sandra Hollins (first Black woman elected to the Utah State Legislature), to convene community organizations for removal of slavery from the Utah State Constitution. With voters support, the amendment passed in 2020.
