Fairmont Park Pond Improvements Project

Project Summary

Location: 1030 East Sugarmont Drive
Design Consultants: Bio-West, Inc.
Contractor: TBD
Funding: CIP/UDWR Grant Funding
Project Manager: Tyler Murdock –
Project Description: The Fairmont Park Pond Improvement Project will address the flooding and erosion issues by creating a landscape that is resilient to the changing water levels. The current concrete walkway on the north side of the pond will be removed. An alternative boardwalk appropriate for emergent wetlands will be constructed closer to the pond itself. This will capture the natural spring flooding and direct it to the pond, which will improve pedestrian and bicycle movement through this section of the park. It will also refocus movement around the pond by connecting the northwest bridge to an improved decking area with benches on the east edge of the pond. The following improvements will be included in this project:

  • Elevated Boardwalk
  • Benches
  • New Trees & Shrubs
  • Improved Pond Access Locations
  • Irrigation Adjustment
  • Interpretive Signage
  • Bank Stabilization With Boulders and Wetland Vegetation
  • Pond Dredging to Accommodate Community Fishery
