Jordan River Boat Access Improvements

Salt Lake City’s meandering, tree-lined section of the Jordan River is arguably the most enjoyable section of flat water for paddlers anywhere in the Salt Lake Valley. Incredibly, this section of the Jordan River has almost no infrastructure to support canoeist, kayakers and rafters looking to experience this unique amenity. The Salt Lake City Boat Access Improvement project will design and construct two new boat access locations along the Jordan River at Fisher Mansion (1206 West 200 South), and at the Redwood Trailhead (1850 North Redwood Road). These improvements will be funded through a grant from the Governor’s Office of Outdoor Recreation and a private donation from Rocky Mountain Power. SLC Trails and Natural Lands is excited to start the design of these improvements in the Spring of 2019 and anticipates construction to occur in late fall of 2019 into the Spring of 2020. Once completed, this project will establish high quality water trail access and signage that will create enjoyable recreational opportunities within Salt Lake City.
