Join SLCgreen in celebrating the 51st Annual Earth Day this April 22, 2021. We’re getting ready for this important day alongside our partners and community members.

Here are some ways you can get involved with Earth Day 2021!


Earth Month Events

Lawn Mower Exchange

Salt Lake City Mayor Mendenhall and the Utah Department of Environmental Quality have partnered for the 2021 Lawn Mower Exchange. At least 1,000 slots are available for Salt Lake City residents! Switching from a gas powered to an electric lawnmower is an easy way to help clear the air this earth day!

CLOSED – Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Lawn Mower Exchange!

Qualifying residents will receive a $300 rebate for a clean, electric lawn mower with the verified trade-in of their gas-powered model. Our waste & recycling crews will even pick up your old mower for you as part of this program!

Saturday, April 17 from 9am-2pm at Hogle Zoo

Learn about recycling, conservancy, and sustainability at the Party for the Planet. Enjoy a Nature Scavenger Hunt, create your own sustainable art project, and find out how you can do more for the planet.

Eating for Earth SLC

April 15-22

The FFAC – Salt Lake City Factory Farming Awareness Coalition and Salt Lake Thrive invite you to join the Eating for Earth Challenge. Find out how your food choices impact the planet.

Join the virtual conversation, and take part in a cooking demo on Wednesday, April 21 at 6pm.

Party for the Planet at Tracy Aviary

April 22-24

Earth Day River Clean Up with HEAL Utah & Jordan River Commission

April 23 from 3-5pm

To celebrate Earth Day this year, HEAL Utah and the Jordan River Commission would like to invite you to the Jordan River for a socially distant trail and canoe clean up in South Salt Lake!

A Climate Change Film Tour

Tickets for Utah Clean Energy, Nature Conservancy, and Salt Lake City Film Society’s Climate Change Film Tour go on sale April 15. The Film Tour will celebrate Earth Day, launching “Inspire. Empower. Action.”

Earth Day Network’s Three Days of Climate Action

April 20-22

Join Earth Day for three days of climate action to help everyone act on climate and #RestoreOurEarth.

Get discounts off of your purchase by doing one or more of the following actions:

  • Walk, bike or take public transit to our store. (Show us your bike, show us your transfer or bus pass, honor system for walkers).
  • Donate 5 or more USED reusable bags, no appointment needed, give to cashier.
  • Return 10 or more stamped Clever Octopus tags back to us.

Arbor Day Celebration at Red Butte Gardens
