Lawn Mower Exchange
Salt Lake City Mayor Mendenhall and the Utah Department of Environmental Quality have partnered for the 2022 Lawn Mower Exchange. At least 1,000 slots are available for Salt Lake City residents! Switching from a gas powered to an electric lawnmower is an easy way to help clear the air this earth day!
CLOSED – Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Lawn Mower Exchange!
Qualifying residents will receive a $300 rebate for a clean, electric lawn mower with the verified trade-in of their gas-powered model. Our waste & recycling crews will even pick up your old mower for you as part of this program!

U of U Earth Week
April 11-15
The University of Utah Sustainability Office and ASUU Sustainability Board are hosting events centering initiatives to integrate social equity, economic prosperity, and ecological integrity.

Earth Day River Clean Up with Council Member Puy, HEAL Utah, & Jordan River Commission
Friday, April 22, starting at 9:00 AM
To celebrate Earth Day this year, Salt Lake City District 2 Council Member Alejandro Puy, HEAL Utah, and the Jordan River Commission would like to invite you to the Jordan River for a socially distant trail and canoe clean up in South Salt Lake!

Party for the Planet at Tracy Aviary
Friday, April 22, at 10:00 AM
Enjoy a range of activities including scavenger hunts, Aviary keeper talks, virtual nature journaling, birding walks, and more at Tracy Aviary.

Party for the Planet at Hogle Zoo
Saturday, April 23 from 9am-2pm at Hogle Zoo
Learn about recycling, conservancy, and sustainability at the Party for the Planet. Enjoy a Nature Scavenger Hunt, create your own sustainable art project, and find out how you can do more for the planet.

Tickets for Utah Clean Energy, Nature Conservancy, and Salt Lake City Film Society’s Climate Change Film Tour go on sale April 20. The Film Tour will celebrate Earth Day, launching “Inspire. Empower. Action.”

Celebrate International Dark Sky Week with Clark Planterium
Thursday, April 28, 2022, 4:00 – 8:00 PM
Did you know that Utah has 24 designated Dark Sky Parks – the most in the entire world? Join Clark Planetarium for a discussion on the importance and beauty of Utah’s Dark Skies. The conversation will be hosted by Paul Ricketts, a University of Utah Physics and Astronomy graduate who, since 2005, has worked in the U of U’s physics department doing public outreach and running the school’s observatory.
