Economic Development Director Lara Fritts appointed to the International Economic Development Council Board

On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, the International Economic Development Council Board appointed Salt Lake City Department of Economic Development Director, Lara Fritts, to their board. Fritts will serve a two-year term which will begin on January 1, 2018, and end on December 31, 2019. Fritts will represent Salt Lake City alongside 55 voting members from public and non-profit economic development organizations across the country.

With over 20 years in the economic development profession, Fritts’ background will greatly help pave the future of the profession. “Throughout my career, I’ve convened conversations around economic development topics and look forward to the opportunity to do this at the national level,” Fritts said. “Ultimately, I’d like to share insight into what Salt Lake City and Utah is doing right when it comes to our economic development efforts, learn from others’ best practices, and enhance career growth for my colleagues.”

“Since joining our team a little more than a year ago, Lara has delivered significant wins for Salt Lake City, drawing national and international attention to the incredible economic opportunities here,” said Mayor Jackie Biskupski on the announcement. “This announcement further demonstrates our decision to bring Lara on board continues to pay off for the Capital City.”

With Salt Lake City selected to host IEDC’s 2019 Economic Future Forum, Fritts’ involvement with the organization will ensure a smooth and successful event set to draw hundreds of the country’s economic developers to Utah’s capital city.
