Why Volunteer with SLC Public Lands?
Salt Lake City Public Lands’ Stewardship Program connects individuals and communities to volunteer opportunities at local natural areas in order to inspire investment and care of these shared spaces. Through the program, community stewards work collaboratively with Public Lands staff and partners to protect, maintain, and restore the natural integrity of our city’s wilder, more biodiverse properties.

Planting Series
Join our Parks and Public Lands staff for our Planting Series. We will be planting trees, native grasses, wildflowers, and shrubs around two locations: Parley’s Nature Park and Cornell Wetlands along the Jordan River. More details to follow soon!
Foothills Stewardship
Join us as we help to maintain our trails as we remove invasive weeds and trash. We encourage all trail users to give back to the trails they love by joining us for a trail workday. Find more information here!
2025 Jordan River Stewardship Sessions/Events
February – December 2025 | Times Vary | SLC Jordan River
Public Lands staff is hosting regular stewardship sessions (every 3-4 weeks) on the Jordan River Trail this season. Join us for weekday evening and Saturday morning sessions of litter clean-up and invasive weed removal!
