Accessibility and Disability Commissioner: Amy Carmen

Amy Carmen previously worked at the Utah Independent Living Center as a Youth Transition Specialist where she taught independent living skills to students in high schools and Post High schools. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Utah State University, and taught students with special needs in public and private schools. As a parent, she volunteered in the PTA and the School Community Council for many years. Amy has been CERT trained and has helped organize Community Emergency Fairs and Shake Out drills.  In additional to serving on the Accessibility and Disability Commission, she participates in other organizations to bring awareness of the needs of the disabled in the community. Amy and her husband are the parents of three children and live in Salt Lake City.
