Appointment
Judge Clemens Landau joined the Salt Lake City Justice Court in 2018, after being appointed by Mayor Jackie Biskupski.

Professional Background
Before serving as a judge, he worked as a lawyer at two law firms:

  • Parr, Brown, Gee & Loveless

  • Zimmerman Booher

Earlier in his career, Judge Landau worked as a paramedic in Boston, Massachusetts, and ran a woodworking and instrument-making business in Germany.

Justice System Involvement
Judge Landau is involved in several groups that aim to improve the justice system.
He serves on:

  • Utah’s Access to Justice Commission

  • Committees for technology and community relations

  • Initiatives that address bias and support people with mental illness in the justice system

Community and Education
He sits on the boards of:

  • Utah Center for Legal Inclusion (which promotes fairness in legal careers)

He teaches a Law and Literature class at Utah State Prison as part of a University of Utah program.
