Appointment
Judge Jojo Liu was appointed to the Salt Lake City Justice Court in June 2022 by Mayor Erin Mendenhall.
Previous Experience
Before her appointment to the bench, Judge Liu served as the head of the Salt Lake County Office of Criminal Justice Initiatives and Director of the Salt Lake County Criminal Justice Advisory Council (CJAC).
Previous to that, she served as Assistant Director of the Utah Indigent Defense Commission.
From 2007 to 2015, she taught law at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, where she co-led the Juvenile Justice Clinic.
Education
She earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her law degree from Columbia University.
