Judge Katherine Peters joined the Salt Lake City Justice Court in 2019.

Education
She earned her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2001.

Legal and Professional Background
Early in her career, Judge Peters worked at a law firm that focused on property tax cases.

She then spent 17 years as a Deputy District Attorney for Salt Lake County, where she handled a wide range of cases, including:

  • Misdemeanors

  • Violent felonies

  • Homicides

  • Sexual offenses, including high-profile cases

She has experience in both adult and juvenile courts.

Committee Service
Judge Peters currently serves on the JPEC Juror Survey Subcommittee.
She has also been a member of the Self-Represented Parties Committee.
