City Council, as the RDA Board, discussed a proposal by the Ritchie Group to develop block 67 downtown. It is the beginning stages of the process for an estimated $450 million development project that would include a hotel, residential, retail, office space, and parking. The RDA Board stressed to the developer the importance of sitting down with the Japanese-American community, which has expressed concerns that the design may not thoughtfully take into account the historical significance of the area as Japan Town.
