The City Cemetery is generally between 11th Avenue and 4th Avenue, North Street and U Street. The project area is in the Cemetery’s northeast quadrant, generally located between 1040 East and 1200 East and 280 North and 11th Avenue
Project updates
April 2026
The Salt Lake City Cemetery Roadway and Irrigation Improvements project managers have continued to check things off the project list!
- Sod and turf are continuing to be corrected
- Concrete remediation continues with panel and curb replacement
- Saddle and swing joint replacement as been completed
- MC Green (landscaping) turf and sod remediation is ongoing. Additional adjustments and remediation to resume after Memorial Day
- Bond funds were spent before the deadline of March 31, 2026
Overall project schedule
December 2024 – July 2026
- Construction began December 2024, with some mobilization beginning November 25-27, 2024.
- The estimated completion date of work sequence one (about 80% of the work) is winter 2025.
- The estimated completion of work sequence two is summer 2026.
- Anticipated hours of operation will generally be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

General project description
- Tree protection and SWPPP, demolition, utilities (roadway irrigation and plat irrigation), grading, curb and gutter, concrete paving, landscape restoration.
- Roadway improvements generally include replacing exiting roadway features with concrete pavement, curb and gutter, waterways, and street signs with decorative posts.
- Roadway area irrigation system improvements (roadway and roadway vaults and associated assemblies and electrical pipe, wiring, and controllers) generally include replacing irrigation with new irrigation system.
- Plat area irrigation system improvements generally include replace landscape irrigation and install new root watering system for trees, and related work.
