WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is a diverse and inclusive city made up of entrepreneurs, artists, community organizers, educators, business leaders, and trailblazers across a broad spectrum with a growing Latino population and a thriving Latino business community; and
WHEREAS, in that spirit, the City recognizes the unique contributions of the Latino community during this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations through Support Latino Business, a rallying cry for local partners including community organizations, elected officials, business leaders, and owners, to celebrate the significant economic contributions Latino-owned businesses make, the jobs they help create, and the positive impact they bring to our community and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is joining communities across the country for Support Latino Business Day to acknowledge and encourage support for our local Latino-owned businesses; and
WHEREAS, we invite residents, fellow business-owners, and employees to connect with our local Latino organizations, such as the Suazo Business Center, Utah American Latino Chamber of Commerce, Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Latinos in Action, and/or Comunidades Unidas, to ask how we can better support Latino businesses in the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Erin Mendenhall, Mayor of Salt Lake City, proclaim September 14, 2021, as:
