Salt Lake City observes Veterans Day

The Salt Lake City and County Building, and city administrative officers will be closed Friday, November 11th in recognition of Veterans Day. Mayor Jackie Biskupski has also ordered the POW-MIA flag to fly alongside the U.S. flag from Thursday until Sunday. It is the second time the POW-MIA flag has flown at City Hall, the first being on September 16, 2016, National POW/MIA Day.

“Veterans Day provides all of us with an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices our veterans and their families have made on our behalf, and in defense of our country,” said Mayor Jackie Biskupski. “Their service is inspiring, and represents the core of who we are as Americans.”

The Mayor also noted with gratitude the hundreds of city employees who have served or are currently active in the U.S. Armed Forces. “As the daughter of a Korean War Veteran, I am incredibly proud to see Salt Lake City supporting hundreds of employees who have served our country,” she said.
