Environmentally-friendly coolant company relocates to expandable warehouse in Salt Lake City

An international company that manufactures environmentally-friendly industrial lubricants and coolants is moving its U.S. headquarters from West Valley City to Salt Lake City. Oemeta’s new facility will include a water filtration system designed to leave all waste water produced cleaner than it came in.

Oemeta’s expansion to 5655 West 610 South is expected to bring 20 new employees and a $4 million investment when it opens in late summer. The company’s new 27,000 square foot warehouse includes office space, production area, full laboratory for material quality assurance, customer support and room for expansion.

Oemeta is dedicated to the production of green products by utilizing many renewable resources such as vegetable oils. Company executives analyzed several locations when determining where to relocate and Salt Lake City was ultimately chosen for a number of reasons.

“SLC is known as the ‘Crossroads of the West’ for a reason,” says Hinrich Voss, president and CEO of Oemeta. “It’s a great location with a great infrastructure for logistics, gives us direct access to the west coast and has the workforce we’re looking for.”

This expansion project is one the Salt Lake City Department of Economic Development (DED) team has been tracking for several years. As the company continues its build-out, DED’s customer service will continue to ensure Oemeta’s zoning and permitting needs are met in a timely manner.

“This is a great example of how long some business development projects can take,” says Lara Fritts, Salt Lake City Economic Development Director. “I’m happy the creation of our department has only added value to companies like Oemeta. We look forward to their continued success in the Capital City.”

With the purchase of land and the build-to-suit warehouse, Oemeta executives say the company will have a footprint in Salt Lake City and the U.S. indefinitely. They expect growth with their main customer base all over North America.
