Salt Lake City hosts national lacrosse championship

Thirty-two of the nation’s top collegiate men’s lacrosse teams are descending on Salt Lake City this week to earn bragging rights as the best in the U.S. Two Utah teams are competing in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) national championship—University of Utah is ranked number two and BYU is number seven.

THE MCLA National Championship is taking place May 7-12 at the Salt Lake City Regional Athletic Complex at 2280 N. Rose Park Lane. The MCLA is a confederacy of ten non-varsity college conferences featuring more than 200 teams across 43 states and two countries.

“We are thrilled to have the best of the best playing one of the most exciting sports here in Salt Lake City,” said Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski. “This is a great opportunity for Utahns to see why lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.”

In addition to bringing some of the best lacrosse players and their fans to Salt Lake City, the tournament is expected to pour about $2 million into the local economy.

The Regional Athletic Complex is located on 140 acres and has 16 natural grass fields, six are equipped with lighting. Games are being held on May 7,8, 10 and 12.  Tickets are $5–$10 and can be purchased online at https://www.universe.com/events/2018-mcla-national-championships-powered-by-under-armour-tickets-salt-lake-city-1T5SDC?buttonColor=#3A66E5&buttonText=Get%20Tickets.
