SALT LAKE CITY – On June 17 Public Services’ Fleet Division will have vehicles, trucks, equipment and miscellaneous items for up bid as part of an online auction hosted by TNT Auction. Bidding in the equipment and trucks auction will close on June 22, the miscellaneous items auction will close on June 23, and the sedans, vans and SUVs auction will close on June 24. 

Potential buyers can browse TNT’s online catalog before bidding officially opens on June 17. Some units up for auction from the Fleet Division include a 2013 Ford Explorer with 71,529 miles, one 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 with fewer than 47,000 miles, a one-ton 2007 service body Chevrolet Silverado 3500 with 59,200 miles, a 2007 John Deere Backhoe 710J with only 4,157 hours, and more.

When vehicles and other items are no longer able to be maintained at a reasonable price to taxpayers, Salt Lake City Fleet and other government agencies contract with TNT Auction to host auction events. Selling used vehicles recaptures revenue that goes toward vehicle replacement funds for newer or more fuel-efficient models. Auctions also allow used vehicles to be repurposed and used beyond their lives with the City. Bidders receive competitive prices for models and equipment that have been maintained by highly qualified mechanics.

“Fleet is always excited to offer the public the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of routinely serviced Salt Lake City vehicles,” said  Nancy Bean, Fleet Division Director. “We expect our high demand models, like the low-mile Chevy Silverado trucks, to attract a lot of attention at this quarter’s auction.”

While bidding is entirely online, there will be in-person preview events to allow bidders the chance to view units they are interested in. Preview event dates vary based on the auction category. TNT Auction has laid out COVID-19 protocols and restrictions for the in-person preview events, all of which are outlined on the TNT website at https://www.tntauction.com/.
