Jill Remington Love appointed as new Salt Lake City CAO

March 1, 2024

Salt Lake City Mayor Mendenhall announced the appointment of the City’s new Chief Administrative Officer, Jill Remington Love, pending advice and consent by the City Council on March 5.

“With Jill’s remarkable leadership skills and institutional knowledge, I couldn’t be more excited to welcome her back into the Salt Lake City family,” Mayor Mendenhall said. “Her deep expertise will help us achieve the ambitious vision we’ve set for our Capital City to reach in the next decade.”

Remington Love has previously served three terms as the District 5 representative on the Salt Lake City Council, and three stints as Council Chair, from 2001-2013. Her service to the City extended across three mayoral administrations, including as Mayor Becker’s Community and Economic Development Director.

After her time in city government, Remington Love served the State of Utah under both Gov. Herbert and Gov. Cox as the Executive Director of the Department of Cultural and Community Engagement overseeing the State Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office, Arts and Museums, STEM Action Center, Multi-Cultural Affairs, UServe Utah, Indian Affairs, and the Pete Suazo Athletic Commission. During her leadership, Remington Love brought together diverse and new programs to rebrand the department and build a collective approach to serving local communities.

“It’s exciting to be back in a place I know so well and to have an opportunity to contribute in this important moment for Salt Lake City,” Remington Love said. “There are so many significant plans and issues the City is navigating, and I’m thrilled to be a part of Mayor Mendenhall’s leadership team.”
