The Gallivan Center is kicking off the spring season with its second annual Garden Party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Green thumbs, plant lovers, gardening novices, and anyone interested in learning and experiencing are invited to attend this free, indoor-outdoor event at 50 E. 200 South, which will feature education sessions, a butterfly house, interactive seed and flower activities, information booths, and giveaways.

Six local gardening experts will sow seeds of knowledge with instructional presentations happening every 30 minutes on the Gallivan stage:

·         Cynthia Stringham, Creator/Host of PBS Utah’s Modern Gardener

11:30 a.m. – Garden Pest Management

·         Nick Volesky, Utah State University

12 p.m. – Create Your Ideal Utah Yard

·         Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District

12:30 p.m. – How to Avoid the Top Common Gardening Mistakes

1:00 p.m. – Backyard Beekeeping

Across the plaza in Gallivan Hall, attendees can cultivate connections with other gardeners by participating in a free seed packet exchange, belly up to the “flower bar” to arrange their very own Easter bouquet, breeze into a butterfly house, and sprout new interests at information booths. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

Public transportation to the event is encouraged. Those riding UTA’s TRAX should disembark at the Gallivan Plaza Station on the Blue Line. Discounted validations for the parking garage underneath the Gallivan Center will also be offered.

Gallivan’s Garden Party is generously funded in part by Salt Lake County’s Zoo, Arts, and Parks (ZAP) Program. More event details and a full schedule of Gallivan’s other upcoming programming can be found at www.thegallivancenter.com
