Downtown Salt Lake City’s signature summer experience is back every weekend in June
Open Streets returns to Salt Lake City this weekend, transforming Main Street into a pedestrian-first destination every Friday and Saturday in June from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.
With music, art, food, and high-energy activities, Open Streets celebrates downtown culture while supporting local businesses. Salt Lake City is launching this year’s Open Streets with a fresh look at what makes it so special—check out the preview right here.
From South Temple to 400 South, Main Street will be divided into four themed zones:
- Family Commons (between South Temple and 100 South) – Hands-on fun for kids and families, featuring stilt walkers, a juggler, balloon art, and a magician
- Arts Avenue (between 100 and 200 South) – Live performances and public art installations throughout the block
- Village Market (between 200 and 300 South) – Local vendors, handmade goods, and a community stage showcasing local artists
- Restaurant Row (between 300 and 400 South) – Patio dining from downtown favorites, plus an outdoor beer garden, live DJ sets, mini golf, and a silent disco
“Whether you’re getting there right at 2 p.m. or not leaving until 2 a.m., this year’s Open Streets truly has something for everyone,” said Mayor Erin Mendenhall. “Four blocks of curated fun on Main Street means four different spaces to spend time with family, friends, and neighbors—all while supporting our favorite downtown small businesses and restaurants.”
Open Streets is made possible by the support of downtown businesses and community partners who bring the energy to life block by block, including City Creek, City Weekly, Deseret News, Gallivan Center, Eccles Theater, the Utah Inland Port Authority, and many others.
“Downtown is the heart of Salt Lake City, and events like Open Streets help it beat even stronger,” said City Council Member Eva Lopez Chavez, who represents the area. “It’s a great way to bring our community together, celebrate our local culture, and support our small businesses in an exciting way.”
