In July, the Salt Lake City Fire Department and other City departments held a District 3 Wildland Fire Town Hall. A good way to get your property ready is to create a defensible space of at least 30 feet around your home. This simple step is one of the most cost-effective ways to slow down or stop a wildfire from reaching your property.
- Remove dead plants and dry leaves.
- Trim tree branches so they stay at least 10 feet away from your house and other structures.
- Keep firewood stored away from your home.
- Prune plants that are close to windows and under decks.
- Keep your park strip trimmed and free of dry vegetation.
