Frontier Fruit was recently approved for an Economic Development Loan Fund loan from The Salt Lake City Department of Economic Development

The Salt Lake City Council recently approved a $350,000 Economic Development Loan Fund (EDLF) loan for Frontier Fruit, LLC, a taproom and full bar opening soon in the Ballpark neighborhood. 

“We’re proud to support businesses that enhance our economy and community,” said Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall. “Frontier Fruit’s investment in Ballpark is exactly what our Economic Development Loan Fund was designed for: helping businesses thrive while strengthening our neighborhoods.”

Frontier Fruit, which will open in the new Shades of Pale project revitalizing the old Engine Block Building at 1388 South and 300 West, specializes in exceptional, award-winning brews that embody innovation, quality, and community. Frontier Fruit is dedicated to serving unique beers that appeal to both adventurous palates and traditional beer lovers. Their diverse portfolio includes everything from celebrated sours to classic ales and lagers, ensuring there’s something for everyone. 

“Frontier Fruit will bring new life to the Engine Block Building, adding jobs and a welcoming gathering space in the Ballpark neighborhood,” said Darin Mano, Salt Lake City Council Member for District 5. “It’s exciting to see this kind of investment along the 300 West Corridor—revitalizing spaces, creating places for people to connect, and adding to the energy of the neighborhood.”

Working with the Department of Economic Development’s Business Development division, Frontier Fruit received a $350,000 Economic Development Loan Fund (EDLF) loan to assist with machinery and equipment, furniture and fixtures, leasehold improvements, and contingencies.

The EDLF’s purpose is to stimulate business development and expansion, create employment opportunities, encourage private investment, promote economic development, and enhance neighborhood vitality and commercial enterprise in Salt Lake City by making loans available to businesses.
