Winter Overflow Shelter

Salt Lake County’s Winter Overflow plan was approved this year. The plan will add 600 more beds for Utahns experiencing homelessness. Operations began on October 16.

Locations:

  • 175 additional beds between the three Homeless Resource Centers
  • 170 beds at the West Valley Winter Response Site
  • 65 beds at St.Vincent de Paul
  • 50 beds dedicated for homelessness at the Volunteers of America “Recovery on Redwood”
  • 165 beds at the Medically Vulnerable People Interim Housing Program in Sandy (estimated to open December/January)

Three meals a day will be provided at all 24/7 dedicated winter response locations.

All locations will have on-site security. Salt Lake City, South Salt Lake City, and West Valley City received funding through Utah’s Office of Homeless Services to fund public safety efforts and operational support to mitigate community impact.
