Apply to Pay for Business Repairs


This grant can help you pay for repairs to your business. We use federal funding to help you fix types of property damage.

What You Need to Know

  • Applications for this program will open August 1, 2026.
  • Awards are first-come, first-serve.
  • Funds are only for completed small business reimbursements.
  • Damage must be recent.
  • The whole process takes about 1-2 months.
  • The maximum funding is $3,500 per year per property.

Before You Start

Before you start, read the description of this program. Make sure you understand what this program can do for you.

You will submit applications in Neighborly. Before you apply, you should register on the website. You should also collect required documents and check that you qualify for funding.

How do I register?

Registering on Neighborly is a simple process. Enter your name, your email, and create a password. If you have registered before, you do not need to register again; you can just sign-in.

What are Required Documents?

You must include documents with your application that prove you qualify. These documents are:

  • Pictures. These pictures will help us understand your request. Show us the specific damages and repairs made to your property. Please ensure your pictures are well lit and have a high resolution. Send us these photographs in standard image file formats, such as JPEG. If a picture does not give us the information we need, we may deny your request.
  • Receipts. This funding reimburses you for repairs. You must show us proof that you have already made these repairs. This proof should include receipts, invoices, or other financial statements. We will not accept bank statements or accounting ledgers.
  • Insurance Information. If you have building insurance, you must include a copy of your policy. Include any insurance claims you made to help you cover the repair costs. These funds will cover any remaining out-of-pocket costs. It will not cover costs already covered by insurance.
  • Completed W-9. This will allow us to set you up in our financial system.
  • Property Ownership Details. You must provide proof of business or property ownership. If you do not own the property, you must get approval before applying. Tenant businesses must give us a letter of support from the property owner.
  • Anything Else. We may ask for other documents or details during the application process.

Do I Qualify?

Check that you meet all the requirements before you apply. For approval, you must:

  • Check that your business is in this year’s target area. Both sides of the border streets may apply.
  • Have an active Salt Lake City business license.
  • Be the owner of a small business or small business property. Here small business means:
    • Three locations or fewer.
    • No more than 50 full-time equivalent employees.
    • Independently owned, not a franchise, and not a chain.
  • Have repaired physical damage to the property. The damage must have occurred no more than 120 days from your application. You must have repaired the damage when applying.

Steps

  1. Submit Your Application Online. You must submit your Business Repair application online in Neighborly. We will not accept applications by paper, email, or any other way. You can submit multiple applications for different damage repairs. You cannot request more than $3,500 across all applications.

  2. We Review Your Application.
    We check applications as you submit to make sure they are eligible. If you are not eligible, we will reject your application. This will occur within 2 weeks. If we cannot tell if you are eligible, we may contact you for more information.

What’s Next

If we approve your application, there are a few final steps. We will set you up in our financial software as a contractor. If you have received funding from the City before, you may already be set up! Finally, we will send you a check by mail. It will take another 2-3 weeks before this check arrives.
