Trails and Natural Lands
About Salt Lake City’s Trails and Natural Lands
Salt Lake City is rich in natural lands. We are bordered by the Foothills and mountains, and open spaces are found throughout the City. These areas provide valuable habitat for wildlife and native plant life, and give people opportunities to recreate, connect with nature, and care for the environment.
The Trails & Natural Lands Division stewards these natural lands by restoring native vegetation, protecting water quality, and conserving wildlife habitat. We work alongside City goals to preserve natural areas, increase natural land access, and enhance trail and open space connectivity.
