Michelle Mooney is a native of Waipahu, Hawaii, a city located on the island of O’ahu. She attended the University of Tampa in Florida where she earned her B.A. in both Psychology and Applied Sociology as well as an M.A. in Professional Communication. From 2017 to 2021, Michelle served as an intern to the Regional Vice President of the National Diversity Council. During this time, Michelle became a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) under their DiversityFIRST Certification Program. In August 2021, Michelle relocated to Utah where she has had the opportunity to impact DEI in higher education. She is also an active member of the Greater Salt Lake Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. With a deep commitment to social change, community engagement, and institutional equity, Michelle is passionate about advocating for human rights and social justice issues on all occasions.
