The Access and Belonging Team supports the Salt Lake City’s Mayor’s Office, city leadership, departments, employees, commissions, residents, and the community.
Our work is not solely defined by the programs or initiatives we manage. Our role is also to actively listen, research, assess access, advise, recommend, and collaborate so that City decisions, programs, policies, services, and practices are informed by community needs, applicable laws, promising practices, and opportunities for sustainable impact.
The Office of Access & Belonging is responsible for oversight of the following areas, initiatives and programming:
- Guidance on citywide access and belonging best practices
- Office of Access & Belonging communications
- SLC accessibility policy and programming/ADA compliance
- SLC language access policy and services
- Management of the SLC Accessibility and Disability Commission, Human Rights Commission, and Racial Equity in Policing Commission
- SLC New Americans policy and programming
- Know Your Neighbor Program
