Mayor Jackie Biskupski and the Salt Lake City Council applaud voters for approving the Streets Reconstruction Bond. The $87-million bond will be a dedicated fund to repair Salt Lake City’s most deteriorating streets. Earlier in the year, Mayor Biskupski and the City Council also approved new sales tax revenue to be used for street maintenance, enabling the City to prolong the life of the entire street network.

“When we put forth the Funding Our Future proposal in my State of the City address this year, we were focused on building a City for everyone,” said Mayor Jackie Biskupski. “By passing the streets reconstruction bond, residents have recognized the importance of investing in our infrastructure and the goal of making Salt Lake City’s roads better for drivers, transit riders, cyclists, and pedestrians. Now is the time for us get to work.”

“The Council placed this bond on the ballot after hearing that our roads are a top priority for our residents,” said Council Chair Erin Mendenhall. “This was an opportunity to let voters decide, and the results speak for themselves. All $87 million will go to reconstructing our City streets. We are grateful for the support of the City taxpayers and look forward to carefully putting these funds to work to improve the City’s streets.”
