After nearly two years of engineering and public engagement, construction on the newly designed 2100 South is set to begin in early March. The public is invited to learn about the schedule, impacts, and what to expect during construction at a “Meet the Contractor” Open House from 5-7 p.m. February 29, in the cafeteria at Highland School, 2166 S. 1700 East.

Early work will start in the 900 East intersection and move east to 1300 East through the spring. Crews anticipate completing all work from 900 to 1300 East this year, with the 700 to 900 East blocks completed in late summer 2025.

With multiple projects happening nearby, Salt Lake City leaders want residents to know that coordination between the Sugar House area construction teams has been a critical piece of preparation to start work on 2100 South and will be ongoing. The City wants to remind people that there are many places to park in Sugar House.

“There will always be a way to get around downtown Sugar House, and there are plenty of places to park with over 7,000 stalls in the area,” said John Coyle, Salt Lake City Department of Engineering Right of Way Manager. “We want people to come enjoy everything Sugar House offers.”
