The Salt Lake City Council recently approved a $350,000 Economic Development Loan Fund (EDLF) loan for Shades of Pale Inc, also known as Shades Brewery. The loan will assist in the buildout of their new Salt Lake City location at 1388 S. 300 West. Shades of Pale Inc. worked with the Department of Economic Development’s Business Development Division to qualify for the loan.
Shades Brewery, which opened in 2009, specializes in award-winning sours and prides itself on offering an expansive selection of beers in various styles. Shades plans to include a full kitchen, additional patio and parking spaces with their new location in the Ballpark District.
“Shades Brewery is a fantastic addition to Salt Lake City’s brewery scene,” said Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall. “It’s especially exciting to see them moving into the Ballpark District, adding to the energy and growth of this area. Our residents, workers, and visitors all benefit when businesses like Shades choose to thrive here.”
Council Member Darin Mano expressed his enthusiasm and said, “I warmly welcome Shades Brewery to District Five. Their presence symbolizes economic growth and a dedication to enhancing our district’s cultural and social aspects.”
“We are excited to witness Shades Brewery thrive and make a positive impact on the local economy,” said Lorena Riffo-Jenson, Director of Salt Lake City’s Department of Economic Development. “Our team is committed to promoting growth and success within our business community, and we are confident that Shades Brewery will be a key contributor to that mission.”
The EDLF’s purpose is to stimulate business development and expansion, create employment opportunities, encourage private investment, promote economic development, and enhance neighborhood vitality and commercial enterprise in Salt Lake City by making loans available to businesses. The program’s overarching goal is to invest in viable businesses that produce strong economic returns and provide positive social and environmental impacts. Learn more here.
