Salt Lake City deepens investments in West Side, Ballpark neighborhoods with ‘Love Your Block’ grants in 2026

May 1, 2026

Salt Lake City’s Love Your Block neighborhood improvement program has re-opened, with the application process starting today. Residents, businesses, and organizations in Salt Lake City’s Westside (Glendale, Poplar Grove, Fairpark, Rose Park, Westpointe, Jordan Meadows, and Guadalupe) and Ballpark neighborhoods are encouraged to apply for mini-grants to support community-driven, volunteer-led projects.

Some of the program’s previously funded projects have included community gardens and tool sheds, public art, playground repairs, and vacant lot clean ups.

For the first time in the program’s four-year history, the maximum grant amount is $3,000 per project—a marked increase from the previous $2,000 grants.

“This increased amount will afford neighbors in Salt Lake City’s Westside and Ballpark neighborhoods ample opportunity to bring forward even bigger ideas for community pride to life,” said Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall.

Potential projects are evaluated for their community impact and sustainability, from how they will bring neighbors together to how they transform vacant or deteriorating spaces. Projects need to be implemented between August 2026 through June 2027. Applications close on May 31, 2026.

Salt Lake City staff members are offering applicants one-on-one technical assistance with the proposal and application process. Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact [email protected] to ask questions and/or schedule a support meeting.

A map of past and current projects, detailed evaluation criteria, and full applications in both English and Spanish are accessible at www.slc.gov/lyb.
