A Truth in Taxation public hearing has been scheduled at 7:00 p.m. in Room 315. When the amount of tax money a government agency collects remains the same from year to year, that agency is not required to notify the public. But if taxes are raised in order to collect more money than the previous year – or when taxes are raised to make up for revenue fluctuations – government agencies must hold a “Truth in Taxation” public hearing where residents can weigh-in. Note: The Council’s August 20 formal meeting will be held at 6:30, to accommodate the State-required Truth in Taxation hearing at 7 p.m. If there are more general comments than can be heard between 6:30 and 7, general comment will resume after the hearing concludes.
