Northwest Pipeline Building 

The Northwest Pipeline Building is at 300 East and 200 South. Salt Lake City bought the building in the 1980s and used it as the public safety building until 2013. The building, constructed in 1958, is on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the few examples of International Style architecture in the city. 

Redevelopment 

Salt Lake City picked a team to restore the historic Northwest Pipeline Building and develop the surrounding property in June 2024.  

The new development will be called “The Grove” and include: 

  • Mixed-income apartments 
  • Open Space 
  • Community-focused space 
  • Art
  • Pedestrian-friendly streets
  • Water-saving features
  • Energy-efficient buildings

Redevelopment Team 

Housing Assistance Management Enterprise (HAME), Xylem Projects, and Common Ground Institute make up the development team. 

Events 

The developers plan to host family-friendly events on the site before construction starts. More information will be provided soon.  

Next Steps 

The development team is conducting building and site investigations and working towards finalizing design and financing. Construction will begin in phases once the plans are complete, with the initial construction phase starting in 2026.
