Parking Tickets on Sold Vehicles

Per Utah state law you are required to remove your license plates from any vehicle you sell or provide proof you transferred plates to the new owner. If you did not remove your plates then you could be held responsible for any citations issued to the vehicle.

There are 2 documents that a Hearing Officer will require in order to release the tickets from the registered owner’s name.

  1. Proof of receipt for Cancelled Registration from the Utah Department of Motor Vehicles.
  2. Affidavit of Sold Vehicle document OR Affidavit of Sold Vehicle document (Spanish)

Once you have the above information you will need to go on our Online Hearing site and file an online hearing. You will either submit the requested documents online or bring them in to our office if you have scheduled an in-person hearing.
