Through a structured and guided process, members of the public will be encouraged to provide feedback and to help further refine ongoing efforts to transform and bolster police and civilian relationships in Salt Lake City – including de-escalation training, use-of-force policy, the role of the Civilian Review Board, and training and hiring of police officers. Information on how to get involved with the Salt Lake City Human Rights Commission and the Community Advisory Board will also be presented.
The evening is being organized with cooperation by the Community Action Group, a coalition of community members representing community members from the ACLU, NAACP, Black Lives Matter, Community Coalition for Police Reform, and Cop Watch SLC. The coalition has been meeting with Chief Brown since February.
