Salt Lake City Parks and Public Lands Division is launching a one-year pilot program for etiquette on the multi-use pathway within Liberty Park. This pathway is popular for many activities, including biking, rollerblading, walking, and running. The primary goal of the pilot program is to educate park visitors about proper etiquette while traveling and recreating on the pathway. This will promote a safe environment for individual pathway users and in turn provide a positive experience for all Liberty Park visitors.
The Parks and Public Lands Division will post interpretive signage along the multi-use pathway to visually communicate proper user etiquette. The etiquette guidelines that will be outlined on each sign are as follows:
- All users travel counterclockwise
- Dog leashes must not exceed 6 feet in length
- Do not stop on or block pathway
- No more than two side-by-side users
In addition, a solid white line will be painted to equally divide the pathway, which will help organize the fast and slow-paced users. The Parks and Public Lands Division encourage all user groups to continue utilizing and enjoying the multi-use pathway during this pilot program.
Salt Lake City Parks and Public Lands Division encourages public feedback throughout the one-year pilot period. Comments can be provided by emailing parks@slcgov.com or calling (801) 972-7800. The program is subject to cancellation if substantial conflicts with established park users or park conditions arise.
