Salt Lake City will participate in the first quarterly fleet auction of 2018 beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24 at 2353 North Redwood Road. One day prior to the auction on Friday, March 23, a preview and pre-registration period will take place. Events on both days are open to the public at no cost.

This auction will feature older fleet vehicles used by municipalities throughout the Wasatch region, including Salt Lake City, which can no longer be maintained at a cost lower than a replacement for newer and more efficient models.

Government surplus vehicles have been carefully maintained since purchase by highly qualified mechanics and typically come to buyers in ideal condition based on their age, usage, and mileage. Items for sale in this upcoming auction include cars, dump trucks, and trailers.

In addition to Salt Lake City, twelve other municipal agencies including Unified Police Department, Davis County School District and Lehi City will be contributing vehicles for sale at this event.

Municipalities participating in the auction contract with TNT Auction to host the event and manage all sales. Vehicles and miscellaneous equipment that will be sold are posted to the TNT Auction website at www.tntauction.com. These catalog listings are regularly updated as the date of sale approaches.

Individuals who plan to participate in the live auction to bid on vehicles or miscellaneous equipment must register as a bidder on site at the TNT Auction trailer. To register as a bidder, participants are required to present valid ID. There is no cost to register.

Quarterly fleet auctions are an excellent opportunity for municipal governments to recapture revenue that can go towards their vehicle replacement funds. Public fleet auctions are also a transparent way for Salt Lake City to bring value back into the community by repurposing vehicles that were purchased with taxpayer dollars into the hands of businesses and individuals at a high-value price.
